Feast or Famine

It is very typical it seems that when you are looking for a job it is difficult and once you find a job, you get more offers! The last two weeks have been insane. I have been interviewed several times. Just this week I have spoken with 4 potential career opportunities, well not speaking to the opportunities but to the people that are presenting the opportunities. Last week I was speaking to two more, and today I have had two more calls. I was heading to Calgary tomorrow to visit with friends and say hi to some old colleagues. Now it has turned into an interview on Thursday with another client company.

This is great news EXCEPT I have to sit down and make a decision soon. The hard part is a couple opportunities are things I really like, a couple opportunities are great career mores and a couple other ones are big bucks. None are the job are jobs I really like that are great career move paying me the big bucks! That’s called the perfect job I guess. Anyways I hope by the end of this week I have offers in hand and I can make the "A" decision on what I want and move ahead. If things go the way I think they will I will be working by 22 June.

My next dilemma is figuring out this contractor stuff. I set up my own company but I have no idea on how to run it. I don't know what to charge for things, what to expense, what are the rates, what I can write off, what are tax breaks ECT. I am asking questions and trying to understand but I am still lost. I need to investigate more and maybe get some help from an accountant and others that have a company. I also need to set up a bank account, and get a credit card and blah blah...gawd ...seems like a lot work to have a company, and I don’t even have work yet!

Seriously though, it’s been a good start to the week, with the interviews and opportunities and I dropped another 1.6 lbs so I am on target to meet my weight goal for this week and this month, Tomorrow I am off to Calgary to visit friends have a laugh do another interview and then come home Thursday night. I golf Friday, so again I am staying busy which helps when you’re unemployed. I think that this will be short lived and I will be back to not having enough time in my days for the things that need to be done.
