Lifestyle and career changes...

So here we are 4 days later after my first my entry, and like I said i am not that diligent in keeping up a diary or blog. Ironically I did write a diary(before blogs were invented) and had some interesting stuff in it. It was from when I left the military and was looking for work. It was the last time in my life where I had decided to change jobs without already having one. I also had a lot of ramblings in there about shoulda coulda woulda, and as I look back to that day now, 14 years later, I see a success story...well...professionally anyways. I never thought I would be where I am today and achieve what I have achieved. I must admit I love to work, love my profession and loved most of my jobs. All my friends in the military now are all senior people in the higher ranks and i often wondered if I had stayed in the military, whee would I be now.....but alas I made the change...fast forward 14 years...The 3 month break for me now has allowed me to refocus, get healthier, play golf and sleep lots! my Blood pressure has been the biggest change. I used to have an average BP of 140s/90s and my resting heart rate was always in the 90s. not very healthy nor good. The last month since I started eating healthier being more active and dropping 25(75 to go!) my resting heart rate is in the mid 70s and my blood pressure is down around 120's/70 and 80s which is fantastic! I am happy with this because a good friend who is also struggling with some weight gain has been recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. He has a lot more on his mind as he has a family, wife, 2 boys, and I told him the other day he was my motivation to change. I don't want to say diet or working out as much as i want to say a healthier lifestyle. I think DIET is negative when your over weight, Lifestyle change, sounds more positive. Also this is not just about loosing 100 lbs and then going back to the old way, I used to be so active, hockey, refereeing hockey, racket ball, squash, karate, ball hockey volleyball, softball etc. I use to play a lot of sports, i was not very good at most, but I enjoyed playing. Now as i get older, its golf although in all honesty once I am able to shed a few more pounds I am looking to get back into the racket sports as they were so much fun! Speaking of golf....gotta run
